...The idea of our exhibition emerged  in the Russian art  at the turn of the nineties of past century. It was the moment when the USSR was about to die. Later on, it ceased to exist completely.  Just then the word popped up that became understandable and quite evident haracteristic for many a one.   It was the magnitude associated with the transition from what it had been to what it became. The term having a relevance to the "residue" of material evidence on spiritual life.  Representatives of artistic community of the time calling themselves successors of avant-gardists of early century had been extensively discussing illusiveness, ephemerality, phoniness, lack of
mystery. They attracted attention to a very trendy word at the time - simulacrum" that in Russian means a copy, imitation, shadow. Forgery replacing, playing with the original.  As a consequence,  certain instruments of transparency, sonority, and purity were required then ...
