AES+F: ALLEGORIA SACRA

Bellini's 'Allegoria Sacra' hangs in the Uffizi Gallery collection. One theory acknowledged by experts is that Bellini was depicting Purgatory on the banks of the river Styx or Lethe.

This painting always intrigued AES+F, who decided that the project ALLEGORIA SACRA would be part of a trilogy about the modern world (Hell, Heaven, Purgatory). The artists saw Bellini's heroes in passengers of an airport.

The airport is Purgatory. The combination of the incompatible questions the values of our civilisation. The Moslem migrants and a skinhead, disconnected 'western' passengers and almost military solidarity between Asiatic people – ALLEGORIA SACRA refrains from discussing recipes for happiness in cultures and instead demonstrates the impossibility of solving this question.
