Strategies of contemporary art often oppose traditional way of creativity and are connected with conceptual projecting which presupposes a work with meta-language, the territory of comments. «Aesthetics of emptiness» has diuscredited such notions basic to visual arts as plastic value, quality, maestria.

Meanwhile, capitulation from the artistic field and limitless trust in the speculativeness to the detriment of the phenomenal makes us eyewitness a sad fact: territory of art shrinks like a shagreen leather from the Balzac’ novel, and we all become hostages of a phantom discourse on reproduction of comments on comments and so on. It’s getting more complicated to realize the reality the real, of our own existential value and significance of full-blooded contact with the world. This fact has been very interestingly interpreted by modern philosophers, theorists of culture who are opponents of the mainstream post-structuralism, like for instance Hans Ulrich Humbrecht in his book «Production of Presence». The author writes about necessity of revision of our limitless trust in sphere of meanings, about rehabilitation of a direct, unverbalized events of art which he calls a «presence». Exactly in this gap, in that valve between meaning and presence happens an artistic event, its self-fulfillment.

The exhibition is an attempt to build a system of cells, valves, niches which are charged with this «energy of expectation» of an artistic event what seems to be most interesting. Artists of different generations belong a team: from masters to Russian artists of younger generation. Each is to build a personal system of blinking «niches of anticipation», and general subject will be history of styles in the world art with which all will carry on a dialogue. Timofey Сaraffa-Korbut with Gothic, Egor Koshelev with Renaissance, Vlad Kulkov with Baroque, Haim Sokol with Realism and all its derivatives, Viktor Umnov with Romanticism of Modernity, Evgeny Gor with metaphysical tradition of Modernism, Sasha Sokolov with Symbolism, Igor Shelkovsky and Andrey Krasulin with Avant-Garde, Natalia Zintsova and Irina Shteinberg with Conceptualism. Andrey Kuzkin has chosen a role of observer/trickster which catches in his own cells-nets the images of his colleagues participants themselves.
