Evolution is a central scientific paradigm. Through generations, the inherited traits of our population have kept changing. The main cause of variation is mutation, en error or an accident, which has taken place in genes. Something has gone to a “wrong address” and the mistake has made a new way of adaptation possible.

Well known British anthropologist Mary Douglas wrote already in 1966 that “dirt is material in a wrong place”. She pointed out how societies have a tendency to categorize everything. These categories help us to have a better understanding of our surroundings but they also create power structures. When something ends up in a “wrong address” these power structures become clearly evident. The culture is society’ ́s culture and therefore scientific facts and matters regarded as “facts” or “norms” are social truths. With the selected works, all the artists deal with the theme Wrong Address. Something or someone – a soul, photographic representations, a fairytale character, and a father – have ended up in a different place in a different way that they were supposed to. These new phases in development -these errors- will ultimately reveal underlying issues in our society and if possible, will change them.
